What is a Root Canal?

Root canal therapy is done when there is damage done to the pulp of a tooth which provides nutrients to the tooth. Root canals performed by Dr. Olsen can be quite simple and involve relatively little discomfort. This procedure saves teeth that would otherwise be lost.

What can I expect?
During the first dental appointment at our Franklin WI dental clinic, the damaged pulp will be removed. The remaining canal will be rinsed out and medicine will be inserted to treat the infection.  Next, a temporary cap will be placed on the tooth for protection. During a second appointment, the canal will be sterilized and filled with a permanent material. In most cases the tooth will need a crown placed during a future appointment at our Milwaukee area dental office.
