Frequently Asked Questions

Invisalign® vs. braces

What is Invisalign® Treatment?

It is the process of wearing a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually straighten your teeth. There are no brackets, wires or restrictions that come with metal braces.

Does Invisalign® treatment hurt?

During the first day that you use each set of Invisalign® aligners, you may feel some discomfort. Don’t worry, that’s normal. That’s because the aligner is gently moving your teeth. In most cases, the discomfort passes within the first day.

How long do I wear Invisalign®?

Treatment typically takes 6-24 months. During your treatment, you’ll have regular check-ins with your dentist. Other than that, you just wear your liners 20-22 hours per day and the rest of your life proceeds normally! A bit more brushing and flossing doesn't hurt either.

What are the benefits of Invisalign®?

Invisalign® is much more than a pretty smile. Crowded teeth are more difficult to clean causing build-up of plaque that causes gingivitis, and may lead to bone loss and periodontal disease. Invisalign® aligns teeth, improves periodontal hygiene, results in easier teeth cleanings and is non-invasive.

Who can use Invisalign®?

Invisalign® treatment can be a great solution for both adults and teens looking for a virtually invisible method to improve their smile. Invisalign’s innovations and technological advancements make it possible to fix nearly all common teeth-straightening and bite issues, from simple to complex — all without interrupting your busy life.

Is It Covered by Insurance?

Yes!

Most dental insurance covers at least a portion of Invisalign® treatment. Because each patient receives their own customized aligners, the cost can vary significantly.

Staff members at Klooster Family Dentistry will discuss the costs of your treatment before it begins, to ensure you have the knowledge you need to make this life-improving decision.

How Do I Get Invisalign®?

The first step is a consultation with your dentist.

If we determine Invisalign® is a good option for you, we take custom impressions, x-rays and photographic images of your teeth. Invisalign® uses these impressions and pictures to create a 3-D image of them, which your dentist and Invisalign® use to map out a precise progress plan.

This plan is used to create a completely custom set of liners, changed every two weeks.
